I am sure that you’ve all heard horror stories about inept bosses. Unfortunately as I record this program many of you are forced to re-live this nightmare Monday to Friday, just like a scene in the movie “Ground Hog’s Day” where events repeated themselves over and over again.
I don’t know if you should take comfort in the fact or cry, but the reality is that thousands of incompetent and unqualified bosses are running multimillion-dollar corporations all around the world and the Bahamas is no exception. And whether you admit it or not, these bosses obviously possess some skill, because in spite of their inability to make decisions, or their many bad decisions, and their obvious lack of interpersonal skills these bosses have somehow managed to hold onto their jobs. So what do you do “if you’ve prayed and cried, and cried and prayer” and now you’re singing the “Lord I can’t take it no more” chorus?
- Relax,
because your boss’s incompetence could be a blessing in disguise for you. Become an asset to your boss
and the organization by learning everything there is to know about
your job so that when the opportunity presents itself (and we know it
will, it’s just a matter of time) you would be able to step in and shine.
Remember the more you accomplish the better your resume looks.
- Keep your opinions to yourself and maintain your loyalty at all times. Remember every organization has a “pimp” so never, never, never complain about the inadequacies of your boss to your “good friend at work” or your other co-workers. What can be worst than working with an incompetent boss? Try having no job at all!
- Maintain your
standards- Just because your boss is incompetent is no reason for you
to give less than your best. Always remembers that other managers are
watching and even though they may say nothing, they observe the
contributions you make towards the success of the team. Hang in there and
continue to set the standard because the next promotion could be yours!
